The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University hosted the 2nd International Physical Therapy Symposium and the 1st Ahi Physical Therapy Student Symposium. Held on April 22, 2026, under the theme “International Career and Women’s Vision in Sports,” the symposium was attended by Associate Dean of the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Özüdoğru, along with scientists, physical therapists, academic and administrative staff, and students.
The opening speech of the IInd International Physiotherapy Symposium was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Özüdoğru, Deputy Director of the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, who provided information about the symposium. Noting that while hosting this year’s second international symposium, they were also holding the 1st Ahi Physical Therapy Student Symposium, Özüdoğru thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of the symposia and expressed his hope for a successful event.
Then, Symposium Chair Dr. Beyza Tayfur took the floor and spoke about the symposium’s theme and research in this field. In her remarks, Tayfur provided information about the participants and expressed her hope that the symposium would be fruitful, noting that they would focus particularly on the role of women in sports.
Following the opening speeches, the symposium proceeded to its sessions. In the session titled “Women in Sports and a Multidisciplinary Approach,” chaired by Assistant Professor Abdülhamit Tayfur, Leman Nur Şengül, a physical therapist at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, participated online to present “Managing a Major Sports Club: Being a Physical Therapist Across Different Disciplines,” Dr. Gamze Çobanoğlu Demirkan, Assistant Professor at Gazi University, presented “Being a Woman in Para-Sports,” and Yonca Gül Yılmaz, European Youth Boxing Champion, delivered her presentation titled “The Importance of the Medical Team Through the Eyes of a Champion.” Following the session, the students’ poster presentations were reviewed.
In the afternoon, the event moved on to the 1st Ahi Physical Therapy Student Symposium, where Symposium Chair Meliha Nur Akgöz delivered the opening remarks. Following this, Samet Ardıç, a physical therapist and the Kırşehir Provincial Representative of the Turkish Physical Therapists Association, presented on the “Regulation on the Independent Practice of Healthcare Professionals,” while Müge Keskin, Chair of the Youth Commission of the Sports Physical Therapists Association, delivered a presentation titled “Introduction to the Sports Physical Therapists Association.”
Following the speeches and presentations, the symposium proceeded to the session titled “Global Career Journeys,” chaired by Dr. Beyza Tayfur, Nazile Yaman, and Mehmet Arslan. In this session, Specialist Physical Therapist Ezgi Tarhan Altınok participated online to present “Physical Therapy in the UK: Processes and Clinical Approaches,” Physical Therapist Dilay Yavuz Tunç participated online to present “The Entrepreneurial Spirit: Running Your Own Clinic in Germany,” and Specialist Physical Therapist Pınar Kuyulu Haksal presented “The Global Face of Academia: PhD and Research Experience in the U.S.,” sharing their career experiences with the students.
Following, Dr. Beyza Tayfur, Assistant Professor and Chair of the 2nd International Physiotherapy Symposium, presented awards to the winners of the poster presentations.
The 2nd International Physiotherapy Symposium and the 1st Ahi Physiotherapy Student Symposium, which began with high attendance and was successfully concluded, ended with a commemorative photo taken following the question-and-answer session. Participants in the symposium toured the Sports Health Research, Application, and Thermal Rehabilitation Center (SAUTER) after the program concluded.
