A conference titled “Food Safety” was organized in collaboration between the Faculty of Agriculture and the General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Held on April 20, 2026, at the 15 July National Will Hall of the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, the conference was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Director General of Food and Control at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Ersin Dilber, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry in Kırşehir Bülent Zafer Taş, President of the Kırşehir Chamber of Agriculture Mevlüt Toprak, institutional heads, NGO representatives, academic and administrative staff, and students.

The opening speech of the conference was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar who stated that they consider it important to bring students together with leading experts in their field. Noting that the process of food, from production to consumption, is of vital importance, Çınar highlighted the contributions of the initiatives carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in this area.

Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil then took the floor to pay tribute to Osman Savaş Çetiner, the Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, who had recently passed away. Emphasizing that agriculture has been one of the fundamental elements of civilization throughout human history, Rector Karahocagil stated that food security has become a strategic issue in light of the growing population, climate change, diminishing water resources, and changes in global supply chains. Noting that agricultural faculties have taken on significant roles in this process, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil stated that students’ interactions with leading experts would contribute to their professional development. Recalling that our university is a pilot institution in the fields of agriculture and geothermal energy, Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, stated that projects carried out by the Faculty of Agriculture have yielded significant achievements and that these efforts will continue to grow.

Director General of Food and Control at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Ersin Dilber shared his insights on food safety, healthy production processes, inspection mechanisms, and sustainable food policies.

The program concluded following the question-and-answer session. At the end of the event, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Ersin Dilber, Director General of Food and Control at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, for his contribution to the conference.
