The Economics and Management Society organized an “Earthquake and Fire Drill” in collaboration with the Disaster Management Coordination Office, the School of Health Services, AFAD, the Doğam Disaster Search and First Aid Association, the Provincial Health Directorate’s UMKE Team, the Kırşehir Municipality Fire Department, the Kırşehir Red Crescent Branch, and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. Held on April 15, 2026, at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (İİBF) building, the drill was attended by Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, representatives of public institutions, academic and administrative staff, and a large number of students.
The drill served as an important exercise for ensuring campus safety and enhancing disaster preparedness in the event of potential emergencies. Conducted under a scenario involving an earthquake followed by a fire, the drill saw relevant institutions and teams working in a coordinated manner. Following the simulated tremor, the evacuation process began accompanied by announcements and sirens, and the building was cleared in a short time in accordance with the plans. Students and staff were safely gathered at designated assembly areas. Injured individuals trapped inside the building were identified by search-and-rescue teams and transported to safe areas on stretchers, while firefighting teams carried out intervention and control operations to address potential fire risks.
During the drill, teams from the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services provided information on post-disaster psychosocial support efforts, while Red Cross teams offered hands-on assistance with food services at the assembly area.
The drill was conducted with the aim of raising disaster awareness among our students and staff and enhancing their ability to act correctly and quickly in times of crisis.
