In partnership with the Social Contribution Coordination Office and the Kırşehir Provincial Directorate of Civil Society Relations, Coordination Office of Institutional Communication Science Communication Office organized a training program titled “Human Resource Management in Civil Society” within the scope of the “University-Supported NGO Competency Development Program.” The first session of the training, held at the Süleyman Türkmani Hall of the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, took place on February 2, 2026. The first session was given by Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Yaman, Dean of our University's Faculty of Education. Dr. Muzaffer Musab Yılmaz, Head of the Coordination Office of Institutional Communication Science Communication Office, and NGO representatives participated in the training.
Head of the Science Communication Office Assistant Professor Muzaffer Musab Yılmaz emphasized the importance of bringing academic knowledge produced at universities more directly to the citizens and civil society organizations in his speech at the opening of the NGO Event Development Program. Noting that a strong civil society is the foundation of a strong city, Yılmaz stated that seven courses on topics such as human resources, communication, crisis and budget management are planned within the scope of the program, which will be held every two weeks between February 2 and May 4, 2026, and that participants will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the program.
Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Yaman stated that civil society organizations are institutions that require volunteerism and a high level of responsibility, adding that awareness of CSOs in Turkey is not yet at the desired level. Yaman said that the foundation and brotherhood culture in Anatolia has an understanding that unites society, is based on mutual aid, and builds bridges between the state and citizens, emphasizing that it differs in these aspects from the Western understanding of civil society, which is more opposed to the state.
Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Yaman stated that a manager's success depends on establishing healthy and uninterrupted communication with their subordinates, emphasizing that teamwork and governance are fundamental elements of modern management. Yaman emphasized that a good manager is someone who gets things done not through orders, but through love and a sense of responsibility, and said that success will come naturally if everyone fulfills their duties properly. Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Yaman also pointed out that compromise, rather than conflict, should be the basis in civil society organizations, saying that the concern that “no structure can function without you” is unfounded. Pointing out the importance of sometimes taking the lead and sometimes playing a supporting role in leadership, Yaman stated that sharing responsibility is essential for success, reminding that positions and duties are temporary, while reputation and dignity are permanent values.
