The panel titled “Accounting Philosophers Who Guided the Ottoman Treasury,” organized in collaboration with the Economics and Management Society of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and the Kırşehir Chamber of Certified Public Accountants was held on December 18, 2025 at the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center. The program was attended by Prof. Dr. Ayfer Şahin, Director of the School of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Oktay Kızılkaya, advisor to the Economics and Management Society, Dursun Ali Yaz, Ziya Anıl Memiş, President of the Kırşehir Chamber of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Advisors (SMMMO), academic and administrative staff, and a large number of students.

The program was an important academic gathering in that it drew attention to the historical origins of financial thought and focused on the Ottoman period, when accounting was used as a management tool. Speakers at the discussion included Dursun Ali Yaz, a certified public accountant and economics writer, and Ziya Anıl Memiş, President of the Kırşehir Chamber of Certified Public Accountants. The speakers emphasized that the concept of accounting in the Ottoman Empire was not merely a record-keeping technique; it was one of the fundamental pillars of statecraft, the sustainability of the treasury, and institutional discipline. Evaluations based on historical documents, the financial ledger system, income-expense tracking systems, and their impact on today's accounting standards offered participants a new perspective.
Hosted by the Economics and Management Society of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, the event provided students studying economics, business administration, finance, public administration, and accounting with the opportunity to combine their theoretical knowledge with historical experience. It was stated that such organizations, where academic discipline intersects with professional practice, contribute to students' career development.
At the end of the event, speakers were presented with certificates of appreciation by the Economics Management Society advisor Prof. Dr. Oktay Kızılkaya, for their contributions and sharing. The program concluded with a group photo.
