Kırşehir Ahi Evran University's Abdal Tradition Neşet Ertaş Application and Research Center organized a Memorial Program for Muharrem Ertaş on the 41st anniversary of his death. The program was held on December 3, 2025, at the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Hall of the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, featuring a speech and concert. The commemoration program was attended by the Director of the Abdal Tradition Neşet Ertaş Application and Research Center Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki, representatives of the tradition Abdal Vedat Öz and Abdal Ümit Yaşar Apaydın, academic representatives of the tradition, academics and students from the Music Department of the Neşet Ertaş Faculty of Fine Arts; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Kamiloğlu, Emre Altaş, Yiğithan Altuner, Doğukan Duran, academic and administrative staff, and students.
The commemoration program began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki, Director of the Abdal Tradition Neşet Ertaş Application and Research Center. In his speech, Bekki said that as a center, they carried out their first independent program as a commemoration program for Muharrem Ertaş, the father of Neşet Ertaş, one of the most important representatives of the Abdal Tradition, adding that this event would also contribute to learning about the cultural structure behind Muharrem Ertaş. Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki said that Kırşehir is the birthplace of the Abdal Tradition and noted that they have held numerous events with local artists who still continue the Abdallık Tradition. Sharing brief notes from Muharrem Ertaş's life, Bekki said, “Muharrem Ertaş was a very valuable and precious person, but unfortunately, his value was only understood after his death.” Emphasizing that Abdallık is a natural conservatory, Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki noted that Muharrem Ertaş and his son Neşet Ertaş were also valuable artists who grew up in this natural conservatory. Also mentioning that Muharrem Ertaş was a very important composer, Bekki said that they brought the Abdallık tradition to the present day by passing it down from generation to generation. Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki said that they gathered to commemorate Muharrem Ertaş on the 41st anniversary of his death and thanked everyone who participated in the program.
The program then continued with a bozlak concert given by representatives of the Abdal tradition Abdal Vedat Öz and Abdal Ümit Yaşar Apaydın, and academic representatives of the tradition.
After the concert, participants were given a certificate in memory of the day.
