As part of efforts to strengthen partnerships and enhance research capacity, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil visited the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) on October 24, 2025. During the visit, he met with Vice President of Climate and Life Sciences at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgen Ercan, Strategy and Business Development Director and Project Management Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abit Balın and Vice President of Materials and Process Technologies Dr. Ersin Üresin. Rector Karahocagil was accompanied by Vice Rector and R&D Director Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş and AHİLAB Director Dr. Nurullah Acir.


MEDIBIO Laboratories
As part of the program, the university administration first visited the Medical Biotechnology Research Center (MEDIBIO) laboratories, where they examined the Vaccine Technologies Research Laboratory, which focuses on developing protective and immunotherapeutic treatment methods against zoonotic or directly human-affecting biological agents. Dr. Hasan Ümit Öztürk, Senior Principal Researcher of the Biotechnology Research Group provided Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil and the accompanying delegation with detailed information about the studies carried out at the MEDIBIO Laboratory.

TÜGİP Food Innovation Center
Later, the Kırşehir Ahi Evran University administration visited the Türkiye Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP) laboratories, where multidisciplinary studies on food safety, quality control, product development, and innovative analysis methods are carried out. Levent Yasin Kurt, Senior Principal Researcher of the Food Technologies Research Group, provided information about the projects and innovative analytical methods developed at the center, also highlighting potential collaborations with universities.

Water Management and Purification Technologies Laboratory
Finally, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil and his team visited the Water Management and Purification Technologies Laboratory, which operates under the Climate Research and Water Management Laboratories. They received information about the laboratory’s activities from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nesimi Öztürk, Leader of the Climate Research and Water Management Research Group. Öztürk explained that the laboratory contributes to identifying, assessing, and solving environmental problems by measuring conventional parameters as well as organic and inorganic pollutants in environmental matrices.

Joint Projects and Cooperation Meetings

After the laboratory visits, a general evaluation meeting was held between Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, AHİLAB Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Nurullah Acir, and TÜBİTAK MAM officials to discuss potential joint research and project collaborations. The meeting addressed opportunities for cooperation in R&D, technology transfer, academic partnerships, and the shared use of research infrastructures between the two institutions.
