A conference titled “The Profession and Future of Certified Public Accountancy: Strong Connections with Institutions” was organized in partnership with the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Vocational School of Social Sciences, the Economics and Management Student Club, and the Kırşehir Chamber of Certified Public Accountants (SMMMO). The event took place on October 14, 2025, at the Neşet Ertaş Hall of the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, with Prof. Dr. Oktay Kızılkaya, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, serving as moderator. The conference was attended by Yener Demir, Director of the Kırşehir Tax Office; Ziya Anıl Memiş, President of SMMMO; Hasan Hüseyin Şenlik, Provincial Director of the Social Security Institution; as well as academic and administrative staff and students.

The conference began with a speech by SMMMO President Ziya Anıl Memiş, who provided information about the certified public accountancy profession. Memiş noted that there is a need for bookkeeping staff in the field, but it is difficult to find qualified candidates. He emphasized that certified public accountancy will be one of the most important professions of the future. Highlighting their close collaboration with taxpayers and constant interaction with other institutions, Memiş also outlined the necessary steps students must take to become certified public accountants.

Yener Demir, Director of the Kırşehir Tax Office, also took the stage to share his insights. He began by outlining the fundamentals of taxation, noting that taxes fall into two categories: direct and indirect. “Whether or not you’re formally registered, in reality, everyone is a taxpayer,” he remarked, before offering a glimpse into the daily operations of the tax office. Demir highlighted the strong career prospects within tax administration and encouraged students interested in public finance to visit the Kırşehir Provincial Tax Office for further information.

Hasan Hüseyin Şenlik, Provincial Director of the Kırşehir Social Security Institution, concluded the event with remarks on how the SGK operates. He explained that the SGK is committed to running a fair, effective, and financially sustainable social security system, guided by the principles of social insurance and supported by risk analysis and statistics. Highlighting that certified public accountants are among their key partners, Şenlik also gave students an overview of the various institutions the SGK works with across the sector.

At the conclusion of the conference, grad students took the stage to share their experiences and offer advice to students on the advantages of the profession. A draw was then held among the students to select participants for upcoming institutional visits. The event ended with Prof. Dr. Ayfer Şahin, Director of the Vocational School of Social Sciences, presenting certificates of appreciation to the attendees.
