On October 8, 2025, the conference titled “The ABCs of Artificial Intelligence” was held at Neşet Ertaş Hall in the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, organized by the Artificial Intelligence Coordination Office and Kaman Vocational School. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, Faculty Engineering and Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Levent Urtekin, AI Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ziya Olpak, M. Javed Ansari, İbrahim Yılmazer, as well as many academic and administrative staff and students attended the event.
In his opening speech, Artificial Intelligence Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ziya Olpak said that the purpose of the conference was not merely to discuss a concept, but to talk about the future. He highlighted artificial intelligence as the most important technological development since electricity. Dr. Olpak went on to explain that, while AI may seem mysterious to many, it is in fact a science that applies mathematics, statistics, and data science to allow machines to learn.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata stated that artificial intelligence is becoming an indispensable tool in today’s world and stressed the importance of students understanding and learning this technology well. He emphasized that knowledge is the greatest power today, and that it is essential to use technologies suited to the era in order to keep up with advancements. He thanked everyone involved in organizing the conference.
In the final part of the conference, M. Javed Ansari began his talk by defining artificial intelligence. He discussed the impact of AI on daily life and continued with an overview of its historical development. Addressing the different phases of technological advancement, Ansari particularly focused on key concepts such as deep learning. He concluded by providing information on current applications of artificial intelligence and how various AI tools are used today.
The event ended with certificates of appreciation being given to the participants, followed by a commemorative photo.
