As part of the 60+ Refreshment University Project, initiated by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University to promote active aging and increase the participation of older individuals in social life, the Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hilal Seki Öz and students paid a visit to Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil. The meeting, held in the Rector’s Office and attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, created a warm and meaningful atmosphere of communication between the students and the university administration.
This important social responsibility project, based on voluntarism, is being successfully carried out thanks to the visionary administration of our university. With the support of Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, the project has gained strength, and within its scope, students of the Refreshment University participated in the 5th National Refreshment University Olympics, hosted by Süleyman Demirel University in Isparta. In addition to our students, Refreshment University Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hilal Seki Öz, Res. Asst. Melike Yeğin, Res. Asst. Elif Çömlekçi Memiş, and Res. Asst. Hikmet Bayam also attended the event to support the students. At the Olympics, Refreshment University student Belgizar Özdemir, who competed in the 1000-meter walk category for women aged 60–69, won the bronze medal with a time of 7 minutes and 40 seconds. Özdemir achieved significant success by winning the bronze medal in the women’s walking race in the 60–69 age category, bringing great pride to KAEU.
Emphasizing that the Refreshment University is one of the most evident indicators of KAEU’s commitment to social responsibility and the importance it places on the integration of elderly individuals into society, Rector Karahocagil thanked everyone who contributed to the successful activities of the Refreshment University.
