The Science Communication Office, established under the KAEU Corporate Communication Office, continues to bridge the gap between science and society. An event was held on July 4, 2025, at the Kırşehir Retirement Home for Elderly Care and Rehabilitation, with the participation of residents from the retirement home. As part of the event, a seminar titled “Digital Literacy and Communication Management for Adults” was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nihal Dulkadir Yaman, a faculty member of the Department of Management Information Systems at the Kaman School of Applied Sciences.
In her seminar titled “Digital Literacy and Communication Management for Adults,” which was attentively followed by the nursing home residents, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nihal Dulkadir Yaman provided an informative session on the use of digital communication tools. She explained in detail how to use the WhatsApp application safely and effectively, while also highlighting the conveniences that digital literacy brings to daily life. Using real-life examples, Dr. Yaman illustrated how technology can facilitate active communication between individuals. She also conducted hands-on demonstrations for the residents, showing practical uses of mobile phones and messaging. Following the presentation, the interested attendees asked Asst. Prof. Dr. Nihal Dulkadir Yaman various questions, engaging actively with the topic.
The Science Communication Office, actively operating under the Corporate Communication Office, previously organized engaging science events for various age groups. As part of the "Science Everywhere" theme, fun and educational activities such as electricity experiments and robotic coding workshops were held with students at Zahide Zehra Garring Primary School. Another notable event took place within the scope of the nationwide Science Cafe Events, conducted simultaneously by universities across Türkiye. During this event, science was brought together with the public at a local cafe in our city.
