"Agricultural Practices in Kırşehir" was held in the scope of the Science Cafe Events organized by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE). The event took place on June 27, 2025, at Emek Cafe in the Kırşehir Neşet Ertaş Culture and Arts Center, organized by the Science Communication Office under KAEU Corporate Communication Office. The event drew great interest from the people of Kırşehir. Science communication serves as a bridge aiming to ensure that the knowledge and academic expertise produced in universities does not remain confined within campus boundaries, but reaches the streets, villages, coffeehouses, and dinner tables of the city. Science Communication Offices, established by CoHE, are units that bring university knowledge to the public. In line with this goal, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University held the Science Cafe Event planned by CoHE to take place in 81 provinces, under the theme "Agricultural Practices in Kırşehir."

As part of the event, Dean of our Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar addressed the role of agriculture in our country and shared information about agricultural practices in Kırşehir. Explaining the history of agriculture, Çınar emphasized that agriculture has existed throughout human history and underlined its vital importance for humanity. Stating that agriculture should not be seen solely as a means of nutrition, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar continued his speech as follows: “In addition to nutrition, agriculture is involved in various other fields and service sectors. In particular, agricultural production is frequently utilized in the clothing industry and areas such as alternative medicine.” Explaining agricultural practices in Kırşehir, Çınar noted that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University specializes in agriculture and geothermal fields, and has developed a variety of projects. He explained that projects such as "Clustering in Thermal Greenhouses," "Roughage Production," and "Walnut-Focused Development and Progress", all of which are among the university’s agricultural initiatives, have been implemented, contributing significantly to the development of the region.

At the end of the event, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar answered participants’ questions on topics such as water issues in Kırşehir’s agricultural areas, soilless farming, the farmer consultation line of KAEU, and the use of local seeds. The Science Cafe Event, organized by the Science Communication Office, attracted great interest from the people of Kırşehir, which is known as an agricultural city.
