Damla Volunteers Movement, launched in 2013, is an ongoing solidarity initiative involving both national and international university students. The volunteer movement began in 2013 under the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the name “10 Days of Volunteering, 1000 Young Volunteers.” Since 2014, it has continued under the name “A Drop Project” and has evolved into a volunteer movement with the establishment of the Damla Volunteers Association (UDG).
As part of this initiative, 40 Damla Volunteers from various provinces of Türkiye are in Kırşehir for a 10-day period to carry out volunteer activities in elderly care and rehabilitation centers, love and child homes, primary, middle, and high schools, as well as tree planting and various other activities. On May 27, 2025, the volunteers met with the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, at the Fütüvvet Hall. During the meeting, which involved a mutual exchange of ideas, the young volunteers shared their experiences from various provinces, stating that their efforts have been widely appreciated across different segments of society. Addressing the students, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil expressed his pride in meeting with the volunteer youth. He emphasized the importance of keeping alive the values of Ahi-Order, an integral part of Kırşehir’s history. He noted that the values highlighted in the words of Ahi Evran Veli, the namesake of our university, “Those who come to us with patience and truth is from us, and whoever surpasses us with wisdom and morality is beyond us.” are being brought to life through the efforts of these young volunteers. He thanked the visiting volunteers for their meaningful contribution and wished them success in their future lives.
