Within the scope of the “The Elderly and the Youth Hand in Hand: Occupational Therapy” Project, supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, KAEU Social Contribution Coordination Office, and the Ahi İyilik Sağlık Student Community came together with elderly residents of the Kırşehir Retirement Home. This gathering, held at the Youth Office located in the central library as part of the University Student Communities and Cooperation Support Program (ÜNİDES), was attended by students from the Department of Therapy and Rehabilitation and the Department of Health Care Services of the Vocational School of Health Services. Lecturer Yunus Macit, Head of the Department of Health Care Services, Alper Yıldırım, Head of Youth Services at the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Youth Leader Emine Ayan, Art Teacher Dilek Akgeyik, and students attended the event.
In the project aimed at encouraging the active participation of elderly individuals in social life, fostering socialization, and supporting intergenerational solidarity, activities such as marbling art (ebru), painting, ceramics, and coloring were organized to bring the elderly and the youth together. As part of the project, events such as a picnic and a trip to Amasya will be held within the next four weeks. Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil emphasized that elderly individuals are the nation's most valuable treasure and highlighted the importance of every project involving them. He also thanked the academic staff and students who contributed to the project.
