As part of the 61st Library Week events, celebrated this year under the theme “Productive Libraries,” Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Head of the University Library visited Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil. The visit was attended by the Secretary General of KAEU Dr. Lecturer Hüseyin İlter, Head of the Library Dilber Sarıkaya, and administrative staff.
One of the key events of the week was the recognition of library users who made the most use of printed and electronic resources from the Central Library. Students and staff who borrowed the most books throughout the year were acknowledged, and researchers who used our electronic resources most were also awarded. Aiming to promote reading habits and to make libraries a part of daily life, KAEU kept its library open during the holiday break from March 29 to April 6, 2025, to support students in preparing for exam week. During this period, it was recorded that 13,947 people benefited from the library.
In his speech during the award ceremony, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil emphasized the social importance of libraries, stating that "it is important for our researchers and younger generations to establish stronger ties with libraries, and that the new central library of KAEU has started to serve with user-friendly facilities." He also thanked the Head of the University Library staff for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of these services.
At the award ceremony, various gifts were presented to those who borrowed the most books over the past year: in the academic staff category, Prof. Dr. Hakkı Çağdaş Basat; in the administrative staff category, Ahmet Yılmaz; in the support staff category, Ayşegül Bertan; and in the student category, Senem Bakır from the Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Language Teaching, Leyla Kanmaz from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery, and Yüksel Aslan, also from the Department of Midwifery. The ceremony concluded with a commemorative photo taken with the visitors.
