The World Mathematics Day events, organized by the Mathematics Education Department of KAEU Faculty of Education, attracted great interest. The events, held at the Faculty of Education, were attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek, academic and administrative staff, as well as teachers and students from Kırşehir Provincial and District Directorates of National Education. The event, which saw a large turnout, emphasized that mathematics is not just a subject but also a field of exploration, art, and creativity.
The 2025 World Mathematics Day events were designed with contributions of prospective mathematics teachers under the theme "Mathematics, Art, and Creativity." Participants had the opportunity to explore the fun and practical aspects of mathematics using tangible materials and enjoyed workshops where numbers and shapes met art. On this special day, which highlighted the intersection of mathematics with art and creativity, students enhanced their problem-solving skills while experiencing the aesthetic side of mathematics. By integrating mathematics into daily life, these events inspired students and contributed to the development of a positive attitude toward the maths.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Okan Kuzu, Head of the Mathematics Education Department, emphasized that mathematics is not merely about numbers and calculations but also an art, the language of nature, and a tool that pushes the boundaries of creativity. Kuzu said: “It is a great pleasure for us to provide our students with the opportunity to experience mathematics from a different perspective today,” and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the faculty members who played a significant role in organizing the event, including Prof. Dr. Ferdağ Kahraman Aksoyak, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aykut Bulut, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuba Ceylan Çeliker, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Kıymaz, as well as all the participating and contributing faculty members and prospective teachers.
The administrators, teachers, and students from 30 Ağustos Zafer Primary School, Ahi Evran Primary School, Boztepe Mehmetçik Primary School, Mucur Martyr Teacher H. Aydemir Hürriyet Secondary School, Necatibey Secondary School, Yusuf Demir Science and Art Center, and Bil College had an enjoyable time throughout the activities. The World Mathematics Day events brought together future scientists, artists, and creative thinkers under the umbrella of mathematics. Expanding the boundaries of mathematics and integrating it into every aspect of life through its artistic and aesthetic dimensions, the event received high praise from all participants.
