The Green Campus Festival, organized by the Türkiye Environmental Agency under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, has begun at our university. As part of the festival, which aims to raise environmental awareness among young people, the Environmental Truck, operating under the slogan “On the Road for the Environment, Supporting the Youth,” arrived at the central dining hall parking lot of our university's main campus on December 26, 2024.
The Environmental Truck, which conducts activities to increase sensitivity toward the environment and nature among young people, hosted various events for students. The truck featured activities such as a virtual reality (VR) experience, prize-winning competitions, a gift wheel, a swap tent, Kahoot quizzes, a glass art workshop, and awareness training sessions, offering both educational and entertaining experiences for young participants. During his visit to the Green Campus Festival area, the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil joined students in a Kahoot quiz competition. At the end of the competition, Rector Karahocagil presented gifts to the top three winners and took a commemorative photo with them.
In a brief speech at the festival, the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil expressed his gratitude to the Türkiye Environmental Agency for organizing such an event. Emphasizing the importance of protecting the environment and nature, Rector Karahocagil stated that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University is conducting a wide range of initiatives in this regard. he said, “Our efforts for a more livable world, a more livable country, and a more livable campus will always continue,” adding that they are delighted to carry out these projects alongside students.
The Green Campus Festival will continue at our university at full speed until December 27, 2024. As part of the festival, the “We Also Stand for Zero Waste” Launch Event will be held. The launch, scheduled for December 26, 2024, will take place in the 15 July National Will Hall of the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, with the participation of the Türkiye Environmental Agency President, Prof. Dr. Ferhat Pirinççi.
