Under the auspices of the Kırşehir Governorship and hosted by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, a panel was organized to commemorate the 105th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Representative Delegation's visit to Kırşehir. The event, titled “Mustafa Kemal Pasha’s Visit to Kırşehir on his Independence Journey from Samsun to Ankara”, was held on December 24, 2024, at the 15 Temmuz Milli İrade Hall in the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center. The panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki, a faculty member in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Speakers were Prof. Dr. Yaşar Özüçetin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Bolat from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of  History. The event had significant attendance, with participants including Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, Kırşehir Mayor Selahattin Ekicioğlu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, local administrators, institutional directors, department heads, academic and administrative staff, and students.

Kırşehir Mayor Selahattin Ekicioğlu delivered the opening speech in the panel, expressing their joy in celebrating the 105th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Representative Delegation's visit to Kırşehir. Mayor Ekicioğlu highlighted that Kırşehir supported the independence struggle initiated by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with his arrival in Samsun on May 19, 1919. He emphasized that Atatürk and the Delegation were joyfully welcomed in Kırşehir, with full support extended to the national struggle.
“We have proudly commemorated hosting Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Representative Delegation in our city for 105 years,” said Mayor Ekicioğlu. He concluded by paying tribute to Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and the martyrs who contributed to the success of the national struggle, expressing gratitude for their sacrifices.

Following Mayor Selahattin Ekicioğlu, Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek took the floor to reflect on the history of the national struggle. Governor Demiryürek provided a detailed account of the efforts made for the independence of the nation and the country, emphasizing the significance of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's journey to Anatolia to ensure the national struggle was not confined to a single region but embraced by the entire nation. He highlighted the relentless efforts during that period to spread the spirit of the national struggle across Anatolia, noting that as part of these efforts, Atatürk visited Kırşehir and met with its people. "The War of Independence exemplified patriotism and the fight for freedom in the most profound way," said Governor Demiryürek. He concluded his speech by honoring the memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and the martyrs who valiantly fought for the independence of the Turkish nation.

Following the opening speeches, the panel titled “Mustafa Kemal Pasha’s Visit to Kırşehir on his Independence Journey From Samsun to Ankara” commenced. Moderated by Prof. Dr. Salahaddin Bekki from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, the panel began with an overview of the national struggle and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s activities during this critical period. Prof. Dr. Yaşar Özçetin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Bolat evaluated the processes surrounding Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Representative Delegation’s journey through Anatolia and their visit to Kırşehir. They detailed how Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the delegation were joyfully welcomed in Kırşehir and highlighted the city’s significant contributions to the national struggle.

After the panel, the panelists were presented certificates by Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, Kırşehir Mayor Selahattin Ekicioğlu, and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata.
