To commemorate the 105th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's visit to Kaman, the "Every Aspect of Kaman Symposium" was organized in partnership with Kırşehir Governorship, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, Kaman District Governorship, and Kaman Municipality. The symposium took place on December 19, 2024, at KAEU Kaman Vocational School and was attended by Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Kaman District Governor Nurullah Kaya, Kaman Mayor Emre Demirci, national and international scholars, as well as academic and administrative staff and students.
Every Aspect of KAman Symposium aims to examine the unique aspects of Kırşehir’s districts thoroughly and to highlight Kırşehir’s place in culture and civilization, as well as its current potential. Additionally, it seeks to bring together researchers who have conducted or will conduct studies on Kaman, fostering discussions on a scientific platform. The findings will later be compiled into a comprehensive symposium booklet, providing a valuable resource for researchers and the public.
The symposium, which runs through December 20, 2024, includes sessions covering topics such as history, geography, literature, language, culture and civilization, social structure, prominent figures, and economics.
The opening speech of the symposium was delivered by Symposium Organizing Committee Chair Prof. Dr. Nadir İlhan, who elaborated on the purpose of organizing the event. Prof. İlhan stated that the "Every Aspect of Kaman Symposium" was arranged in partnership with the Kırşehir Governorship, Kaman District Governorship, Kaman Municipality, and KAEU, to commemorate the 105th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's visit to Kaman. He emphasized that the papers presented at the symposium would later be compiled into a publication, creating a valuable resource about Kaman. Prof. Dr. Nadir İlhan thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of the symposium and wished for its success.
Following Prof. Dr. Nadir İlhan, Kaman Mayor Emre Demirci came forward and spoke about the history and cultural significance of Kaman. He highlighted the symposium's importance in promoting the district and he thanked all contributors of the organization of the symposium and wished for its success.
After the speech of Kaman Mayor Emre Demirci, Kaman District Governor Nurullah Kaya emphasized that Kaman is the largest district of Kırşehir and possesses significant historical and tourism value. He expressed hope that the symposium would benefit both the district and the province, and he thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of the symposium and wished for its success.
Following this, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil delivered a speech in which he referred to the "Every Aspect of Mucur" and "Every Aspect of Çiçekdağı" symposiums, previously organized in collaboration with local administrations in Mucur and Çiçekdağı districts. Rector Karahocagil highlighted that these symposiums covered topics such as the history, geographic characteristics, economy, social and cultural structure, as well as the notable figures who contributed significantly to these districts. He expressed his satisfaction with conducting such symposiums in partnership with local administrations. Prof. Dr. Karahocagil also mentioned that our university has hosted numerous symposiums, congresses, and workshops in past years, briefly outlining the symposiums and congresses planned for 2025. He emphasized that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, which carries the name of one of the region's most significant historical figures, Ahi Evran-ı Veli, is committed to hosting various events that promote the province, its values, and its culture at both national and international levels. The Rector concluded by thanking everyone involved in organizing the "Every Aspect of Kaman Symposium" and wishing for its success.
Lastly, after the speech of Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek highlighted Kırşehir’s rich history as a host to ancient civilizations and commended Kaman’s historical and natural significance. He stated their openness to collaborations that contribute to the district’s promotion and thanked all contributors and wished for its success.
The symposium continued with its opening session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Sadık Sarısaman, featuring the following presentations: "Administrative Arrangements in Kaman During the Republican Period Based on Archival Documents" by Prof. Dr. Sadık Sarısaman; "General Political Situation of Kaman and Its Surroundings During the Cappadocian Kingdom Period" by Prof. Dr. Ercüment Yıldırım
"Monitoring Nitrate Changes Affecting Hirfanlı Dam Lake" by Prof. Dr. Sultan Kıymaz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Genç; "Activities of the Japanese Anatolian Archaeology Institute in Kırşehir and Kaman" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kimiyoshi Matsumura.
The "Every Aspect of Kaman" Symposium will continue with various sessions until December 20, 2024, at Kaman Vocational School.
