The Yunus Emre Commemoration Program, jointly organized by the Kırşehir and Aksaray Governorates, took place with a large turnout. The event was held on October 1, 2024, at the recently restored complex on Ziyaret Hill. Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoğlu, Kırşehir Mayor Selahattin Ekicioğlu, Aksaray Mayor Evren Dinçer, Kırşehir Chief Public Prosecutor Oğuz Şükrü Ener, Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor Osman Köse, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Ortaköy Mayor Ahmet Koyuncu, public institution representatives, veterans, NGO representatives, students, and citizens attended the program.
The commemoration program began with the visit to Yunus Emre's grave by the Governors, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, and other protocol members. This was followed by a recitation of the Quran and prayers. After a moment of silence and the national anthem, the program continued with speeches by the protocol members. Following the speeches, State Theater Artist Osman Nuri Ecan recited Yunus Emre’s poems in a performance where he portrayed Yunus Emre. Students also recited Yunus Emre's poems, and the event concluded with a mini concert by teachers from Aksaray Fine Arts High School.
The Governors of Kırşehir and Aksaray, along with other protocol members, symbolically wore Yunus Emre's robe. Carrying sacks on their shoulders, the Governors distributed hawthorn berries to the citizens. Afterward, the protocol members walked along the ‘Yunus Emre Path of Love,’ followed by a visit to the Çilehane.
