The "Turkish Historical Society 100. Year Library" was established by the Turkish Historical Society (TTK) in KAEU Central Library. The opening ceremony, held on September 27, 2024, at the Central Library, was attended by Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, President of the Turkish Historical Society Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş and Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek, Secretary-General Dr. Hüseyin İlter, Head of the Library and Documentation Directorate Dilber Sarıkaya, as well as academic and administrative staff and students.
Before the opening ceremony, TTK President Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen met with Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, and his team at the rector’s office. During the meeting, activities and projects to be carried out through bilateral cooperation between the institutions were discussed.
After the visit, the opening ceremony of the Turkish Historical Society Centennial Library commenced. The first speech at the ceremony was delivered by our University Rector, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, who expressed his satisfaction with the opening of such a library in the Central Library and thanked TTK President Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen for his contributions. He emphasized his belief that a fully equipped library would contribute to the academic success of both students and academics and wished that the Turkish Historical Society Centennial Library would be beneficial for the university, students, and academics.
Following Rector Karahocagil's speech, TTK President Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen took the floor, mentioning the foundation of the Turkish Historical Society and noting that it was a gift from Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to the Turkish nation. President Özgen stated that the Turkish Historical Society 100. Year Library opened at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University was the 17th Turkish Historical Society 100. Year Library. He emphasized their goal to open 100. Year Libraries at all universities across the country and continued his speech by saying: “Approximately 1,300 books from our institution have been brought to the library so far. We will continue to send more books that we publish to enrich the library over time. Since its establishment, we have been working together with universities and academic institutions across the country, aiming to reach the level of contemporary civilization set by Gazi M. Kemal Atatürk. I hope that the library we have opened will be beneficial to our university, students, academics, and colleagues working in the field of social sciences.”
After the opening ceremony of the Turkish Historical Society 100. Year Library, protocol members and guests toured KAEU Central Library and had a conversation in the Fütüvvet Hall.
