The TÜBİTAK 1812 Investment-Based Entrepreneurship Support Program 2024-1 results have been announced. The project titled "Production of Heat Efficient Lightweight Composite Panel Elements from Waste Concrete for the Construction of Modular Structures," led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Furkan Birdal from the Department of Civil Engineering at KAEU Faculty of Engineering and Architecture received TÜBİTAK BİGG support within the scope of the 2024 1st Call. Our project was also awarded the "Seal of Excellence" for the 2024 1st Call, based on evaluations by academicians, sector representatives, and investors.
The aim is to Develop Innovative, Eco-Friendly, and Disaster-Resistant Structural Elements
The project, among the 115 ideas awarded the Seal of Excellence out of 1917 ideas, aims to develop sustainable and energy-efficient modular building systems. Thus, it aims to focus on utilizing concrete waste generated from urban renewal and natural disasters to produce innovative, eco-friendly, and disaster-resistant structural elements. The approach is expected to significantly contribute to sustainability efforts in the construction sector.
The Sustainable ModülerYAP Team had previously proven its success by winning the second prize in the Engineering and Basic Sciences category at the II. R&D Project Market of the Association of Anatolian Universities. In addition to Dr. Furkan Birdal, the team includes Dr. Hasan Dilbas from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and Civil Engineers Emre Şahin, Mustafa Kerem Soyal, and Erkam Köseömür who are graduate students at KAEU Institute of Science.
