On the second day of the Sustainability Week events organized by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, the Department of Preschool Education at the Faculty of Education held an event titled "The Key to Transformation in Education for Sustainability: Awareness, Collaboration, and Action." The event took place on May 28, 2024, under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şule Alıcı from the Department of Basic Education, Preschool Education Program, and was carried out by third-year Preschool Education students Fatma Altan, Rahile Bulut, Arzu Sultan Külüm, Tuğba Kaçuş, Dilek Çelik, Ayşe Betül Tekin, Işıl Kalaoğulları, İclal Dilara Bostancı, and Zülal Araz. The event was attended by Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Refik Balay, Kırşehir Provincial Representative of the Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion (TEMA) Timuçin Tokmakçı, President of the Green Nature Association Journalist and Author Abdulkadir Ay, academic and administrative staff, and students.

The event began with Timuçin Tokmakçı, the Kırşehir Provincial Representative of TEMA, introducing their projects. Following Tokmakçı, Abdulkadir Ay, the President of the Green Nature Association, took the floor to present the Ortaşehir Project. In his speech, President Ay highlighted that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University played a pioneering role in Turkish Higher Education with its quality education initiatives, contributing significantly to regional education. In recognition of these efforts, the university was awarded the Green Flag Award by the association. Ay shared the details of the Ortaşehir Project with the participants, expressing his hope that the award would serve as an incentive. At the end of his speech, President of the Green Nature Association Abdulkadir Ay presented the Crystal Plaque and the prestigious Green Flag Award to Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil and Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Refik Balay.

Following the speech by Abdulkadir Ay, President of the Green Nature Association, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil took the floor. He stated that he accepted this award on behalf of the students and that this success was the result of their efforts. Rector Karahocagil also highlighted the contribution of the Ortaşehir Project to regional development, adding that such projects and civil society activities are in harmony with the Ahi philosophy.

The event concluded with the introduction of projects prepared by third-year students of the Early Childhood Education Department as part of their 'Early Childhood Environmental Education Course'.
