A tree-planting event was held in memory of KAEU Students who lost their lives in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake by KAEU faculty members and students. At the ceremony, firstly, a complete Quran hatim prayer was done for the KAEU students who lost their lives, Ayşe Yağmur Kahveci, Canan Kozak, Murat Yılmaz, Zehra Küçük, Fadime Çevik and Şifanur Kısa. After the prayer, the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil stated that they wanted to honor the memory of students who lost their lives in the Earthquake.

Karahocagil reminded them that they were members of a civilization whose principle was, " If the Final Hour comes while you have a shoot of a plant in your hands and it is possible to plant it before the Hour comes, you should plant it,". He said, "We hope that they rest in peace with the trees planted and prayers done, and such disasters do not occur again,". After the tree-planting event, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil visited the "Charity Bazaar" which was opened to help people in Palestine in front of the Faculty of Education. In his speech, Karahocagil said, "Today, we're witnessing a very meaningful and exemplary event. I thank all the people who contributed to this sensitive event,". The charity event which is organized for the Palestinian people will go on for two days. The events were largely attended by many academicians and students as well as Vice-Rectors  Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek and Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, and Secretary General Dr. Hüseyin İlter.
