A panel titled "Philosophical, Sociological, and Literary Portrait of the Turkish Republic in its Centenary" was held at KAEU, which organizes many events on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maksut Yiğitbaş, a faculty member of Turkish Language and Literature at KAEU Faculty of Arts and Sciences, chaired the panel. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Öztürk, a faculty member of the Department of Philosophy, Dr. Levent Taş, and Dr. Hatice Gündoğan, faculty members of the Department of Sociology at KAEU Faculty of Arts and Sciences, participated as the panelists.



The panel started with a welcoming speech, a moment of silence, the recitation of the National Anthem, and the introduction of the CVs of the panelists. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Öztürk, who took the first floor talked about the innovation movements that started during the Ottoman Empire, the axis change that occurred with the Treaty of Lausanne, and the Westernization process in his speech titled "A Philosophical View of the Century of the Republic". Later, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maksut Yiğitbaş touched upon the effect of poetry on tradition and the role of language in gaining an identity, in the context of "The Journey of Turkish Poetry from the Past to the Future in the Century of the Republic". Dr. Hatice Gündoğan, on the other hand, made an overview of the republic through novels and examined the processes of change through different identities. Finally, Dr. Levent Taş also touched upon the processes of construction and revival of society from the perspective of society and sociology.

After the presentation of the documents to the panelists by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek, the program continued with a poetry recital. Students of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences recited some poems from many important poets such as Arif Nihat Asya, Cemal Süreyya, Sezai Karakoç, and Mehmet Akif İnan.

The events were organized within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, prayers were said in the 100 Hatim Prayer program for the martyrs at the Mosque of KAEU. In the program held before the Friday prayer, in which Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil also participated, 100 hatm-i sheriff prayers were made for all martyrs and those who lost their lives in Palestine on the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Then, Rector Karahocagil visited the cemetery of martyrs and laid roses on the graves of the martyrs. Then, the Holy Quran was read and prayers were made.
