The Academic Development and Adaptation Program (ADAP) has started at KAEU, designed by the Quality Assurance System Coordination in Education to facilitate the integration of newly joined faculty members and staff, and to enhance the effectiveness of their research activities. The ADAP program, which commenced on June 12, 2023, in the Neşet Ertaş Conference Hall, will take three days. The opening section of the ADAP program was attended by Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, as well as faculty members and staff.

The PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) Cycle Holds Critical Importance in Education and Instruction

During his speech at the opening of the Academic Development and Adaptation Program, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya emphasized that knowledge was power and knowing was a privilege, and highlighted that the adaptation program was based on the manifestation of the reality. Karakaya emphasized that the university had implemented numerous innovations and stated that in order to access specific information regarding those innovations, stayed informed, and brought the intended work to life, it was necessary to have a command of the PDCA cycle. Rector Karakaya said, "This cycle actually involves mechanisms through which we verify whether the abstract designs in the human mind are realized in real life. First, there is planning in the mind, then implementation, followed by monitoring and evaluation of the process. Of course, at this point, it should be assessed whether these actions benefit the recipients. In fact, this is the essence of the Institutional Accreditation Program (internal and external evaluation) processes. For these purposes, we have designed the Integrated Quality Management System and AYDEP."

Nurturing Human-Beings is the Most Difficult Job in the World."

In the second part of his speech, Rector of KAEU Karakaya emphasized that being human goes beyond fulfilling tasks and requires embracing a more inclusive principle of 'being human.' Reminding everyone that education is not a matter of personal opinions but has its own distinct rules, Karakaya stated, 'It has its own separate rules, and they should be implemented under the PDCA cycle. This is also crucial in ensuring our young people find their place in life; it requires effort and dedication. Because human beings cannot be neglected, your responsibility is to determine the competencies and qualifications of young individuals at this stage. Rather than adopting the reductionist approach of the West, we need to act in a manner that understands the essence of the human spirit.' Karakaya mentioned that he has never attended a class without studying in the evenings. He explained that if he couldn't find time, he would sacrifice sleep and study at night to attend the class. He expressed that he did so because he was aware that young people would find strength in the lessons they learnt from him and persevered in life."

Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi, Fahrettin Razi, and Al-Ghazali should Inspire us for our Ideal of Nurturing Human-Beings

In the final part of his speech, Karakaya emphasized the importance of understanding ourselves, our identity, and our past. He expressed the desire for us to draw inspiration from our civilization, such as Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi, Fahrettin Razi, and Al-Ghazali, rather than relying solely on Aristotelian logic. Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya requested the faculty members to present their ideals for nurturing individuals. He highlighted the significance of recognizing that the most important entity was human and askekd them to educate young people not with a mechanical understanding but with a mindset that wouşd bring benefit. Karakaya conveyed his well wishes to the faculty members in their new roles and concluded his speech by thanking everyone involved in the preparation and implementation of the ADAP program.

The Academic Development and Adaptation Office (ADAP), organized under the Quality Assurance System Coordination in Education, has designed a comprehensive program that includes 10 fundamental modules, total 10 hours of training. The training sessions given by relevant departments will provide a "Certificate of Participation" to the participants.
