Within the scope of the Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation Program of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), the studies continue non-stop in the Walnut-Oriented Growth and Development Project, which is one of the projects implemented by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. Ahi Walnut Gene Garden Sub-Project, which is an important development for our university within the Walnut Focused Growth and Development Project, was initiated with walnut plantation work on an area of 14 decares.

It is planned to provide cuttings for Kaman and other walnut varieties by following the development performance of walnuts in the Kırşehir region in the Ahi Ceviz Gene Garden, which was established with domestic and foreign walnut varieties grown in our country. Within the scope of the project, walnut varieties suitable for walnut cultivation in the Kırşehir region will be determined for the location, direction, soil, altitude, climate, and other geographical conditions, and contribution will be made to walnut cultivation in our province.

Within the scope of the Walnut-Focused Growth and Development Project, DNA labeling of Kaman Walnut, which is also important for Kırşehir province, will be done with the planned gene regions. Coding will be determined by DNA labeling of the Kaman variety and genotypes called Kaman Walnut. With the project, the coding of other cultivars grown in the region will be obtained and their molecular relationships with each other will be determined.
