The KalDer EFQM award process of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, which is a pioneer and brand with its quality studies, has started. KAEU, which is the only university among the newly established state universities with a full 5-year accreditation and won the 2023 Efficiency Award of the Ministry of Industry and Technology with the Integrated Quality Management System (IQMS), is a role model with its quality management systems. KAEU has completed the application process for "Competence Stages in Outstanding Performance" and evaluated the process and targets in a meeting. Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Vice Rector and Quality Management Coordinator Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökbel, Secretary-General Mehmet Zeki Küçük, Quality Management Coordinator team, unit managers, and quality representatives attended the EFQM criteria groups meeting held after the EFQM Recognition and Award Program application.


KAEU, which has started to implement the ISO 5001 Energy Management System, which has implemented ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management and ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems in all its units, passed the Competence Stages in Superior Performance and became involved in the process of the Turkiye Excellence Award with the Superior Performance Competency Certificate..

Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya made the opening speech of the meeting. Karakaya said that they had achieved great success at different levels in terms of quality, and they had won many successes, especially awards and patents. Rector Karakaya, who stated that they were at an important point in that sense among the universities of our country at the current stage, "It has now been registered that we are the address of quality. We have a sense of quality that has its own discourse, is a role model, and is the brand of the country. We have developed the Integrated Quality Management System, which we have developed in line with our understanding and approach to quality, and we have started to share it with other universities as well as we use it effectively ourselves. Our system, whose naming rights and patents have been obtained, has been awarded the Efficiency Award and rewarded its success. By applying many international quality standards, we succeeded in being the only university that was established by THEQC after 2006 and accredited for five years. I would like to thank and congratulate all our employees, students, and stakeholders who have helped us achieve this success.”

KAEU Aims for the Top on the Process of EFQM Excellence

Reminding that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University is a role model university, Rector Karakaya noted that their targets were now the Certificate of Competency in Outstanding Performance and the Turkiye Excellence Award. Expressing that they would be evaluated according to seven criteria in the KalDer EFQM Recognition and Award Program, Karakaya said, “Competence in Outstanding Performance will be an important evaluation study that allows the performance of our university to be analyzed in depth and our achievements to be recognized, and will provide us with an important model for increasing the competitiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness of our university. In line with our application for Competence in Superior Performance, a detailed feedback report covering all management approaches, business models and the results we have obtained will be presented to us as a result of the evaluation made by the competent EFQM Model Evaluators with the information to be provided by our university and a field visit covering all our unit managers and employees. The feedback report will be an opportunity for learning and improvement regarding the results we want to achieve, achievements and our managerial approaches”.

In the continuation of the meeting, Vice-Rector and Quality Management Coordinator Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil made a presentation on EFQM Outstanding Performance Journey "Self-Assessment". Talking about the details of the road maps followed in the journey of excellence studies, Quality Management Coordinator Karahocagil gave information about the details of the criteria requested in matters such as the training, self and external evaluation processes, and informed about future plans for the process. The meeting ended with the answering of the questions from the relevant units.
