KAEU Faculty of Engineering and Architecture students made it to the finals in the 16th International Steel Bridge Design Competition held at Boğaziçi University. The name of the steel bridge design, which was designed by the students of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Civil Engineering Department Ilker Güneş, Özkan Uluer, Sinan Altuntaş, Aycan Kırkbunar, Kübranur Özdemir and Asst. Prof. Dr. Furkan Birdal, was Alsancak. One of the two samples of Alsancak Steel Bridge Design will be sent to the competition held at Boğaziçi University, while the other will be exhibited at KAEU Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.

Providing information about the competition, Team Captain İlker Güneş stated that the architectural design of the bridge was Ayyıldız themed and continued as follows: "In addition, the cost of the designed bridge and its weight have been minimized and it has a maximum load carrying capacity in terms of horizontal and vertical loads." Expressing that they were excited to make it to the finals of the competition, Kaptan Güneş thanked Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, his team and professors for their support throughout this process.
