After the earthquakes, the epicenter of Kahramanmaraş and affecting 11 provinces, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University continues its support activities in Hatay, which has given intensive support to the aid mobilization for the provinces affected by the earthquakes since the first day of the disaster. Volunteer teaching staff and students within the Disaster Coordination Center established in our university established a kindergarten in Hatay for the children in the disaster area. Moreover, they provided psycho-social support to the children and provided help for the central exams.
Continuing their fieldwork in Hatay, the team supports children by organizing various activities and helping them to overcome the psychological effects quake. KAEU academic staff and students, who also provided help with the central exams such as YKS/LGS, aimed to heal the wounds of the disaster. Our university, which established its first kindergarten in the Muradiye neighborhood of the Iskenderun district of Hatay province, continues its activities for the second kindergarten in the tent city of Gemlik. The volunteer team, which continues its regional activities in Hatay, reached children in different regions such as Hatay Kırıkhan Kamışlar District, Hatay Kırıkhan Hacı Çito District, Hatay Kırıkhan Dedeçınar District, Hatay Ovakent District, Hatay Antakya Aşağıova District, Hatay İskenderun Maydonoz Park Tent City, Hatay İskenderun Sakarya District Market, Hatay İskenderun Saturday Market Area, Hatay İskenderun University Area and organized many activities for the children affected by the earthquake. The Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya reported that the aid would continue within the bounds of possibility. He said that the earthquake had affected not only one region of the country, but the whole of the country, and therefore they did their best to overcome the problems it created and would continue to do so in the future.
