Earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and a magnitude of 7.6 at the epicenter of the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, also caused great destruction in the neighboring provinces Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Malatya, Hatay, Osmaniye, and Adana. Following the earthquake disaster, an in-kind aid campaign was launched in accordance with the decision taken by our university administration. On February 8, 2023, the aid collected within the scope of the campaign set out with prayers to be delivered to the earthquake district by 5 vehicles and 12 personnel. In addition, a mobile kitchen will be established for earthquake victims and food will be distributed to those in need in the region. Drills and generators, which are among the urgent needs in the earthquake area, were also transferred by our teams to the region.
Our citizens and our state, who showed the feeling of being a nation in the strongest way with the solidarity they showed in difficult times, continue to heal the wounds of the earthquake disaster. Like all our institutions and citizens, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, with all its members and opportunities, showed sensitivity to the issue and used every means available from the first moment to heal the wounds of the earthquake. In line with the decisions taken by the Senior Management KAEU, the in-kind aid collected within the scope of the In-kind Aid Campaign launched for our earthquake victims such as winter clothes, blankets, heaters, cleaning and hygiene materials, and durable dry legumes was received from the aid collection center established in Bağbaşı Central Campus to be delivered to our citizens in need. Rector Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who closely followed all the works, stated that the sensitivity of our university staff and students to the campaign made them emotional. Rector Karakaya said, “Now is the time to heal the wounds and unite. Let's get help quickly to those in need. I would like to thank everyone who contributed. As Ahi Evran University, we wish the mercy of Allah on those who lost their lives in the earthquake, our condolences to their relatives, and a speedy recovery to the injured."
