Cacabey Mosque, one of the most important historical monuments of our city, was reopened for worship with a ceremony that took place with the intense participation of the citizens after the restoration was completed. Kırşehir Governor H. Mete Buhara, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alparslan, General Manager of Foundations Burhan Ersoy, President of Turkish Space Agency Serdar Hüseyin Yıldırım, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, provincial protocol, and citizens attended the opening that took place on January 26, 2023.


Speaking at the opening program of the Cacabey Mosque, which was reopened to the people of Kırşehir with the noon prayer, Governor Mete Buhara said that the Cacabey Mosque, which was inherited us, was opened to worship again after the restoration. He said “Cacabey, the first astronomy madrasah in history that has been standing for more than 750 years, is used as a mosque today. Cacabey Mosque also inspires us on our journey to the future. This rare structure, which includes the concepts of madrasah and mosque, shows us the way to work in the light of science.”

Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that Cacabey Mosque is a masterpiece of Turkish-Islamic Civilization regarding the reopening of the Cacabey Mosque. Rector Karakaya, who stated that the importance given to science was evident in every detail of the Cacabey structure, noted that the inheritance of the ancestors would always be a reference for them in the light of science. The program ended with the opening of the Cacabey Mosque and the examination tour.
