"Leadership and Management Training" was organized by the KAEU Directorate for Personnel Affairs within the scope of in-service training. The training took place on 14 December 2022 at KAEU Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, 15 July Milli İrade Hall. The training was given by the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal. Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökbel, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Secretary-General Mehmet Zeki Küçük, Deputy Secretary Generals, Internal Auditors of KAEU, deans and vice deans, institute, college, head of centers and their assistants, heads of departments and departments, heads of departments, advisors, faculty/school/institute secretaries, branch managers, chiefs, and academic and administrative staff attended the training organized for the administrators of our university.

Before the in-service training, the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal visited the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya in his office and exchanged views on the general situation of both universities.

Rector Karakaya, who stated that they were pleased to host the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal within the scope of in-service training, emphasized that it was important for our university administrators to benefit from Rector Ünal's extensive knowledge and experience in Leadership and Management. Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya thanked the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal.

Rector Karakaya: “A leader is the one who thinks about the tomorrow and future of his institution”

After the office visit, in-service training was started. The Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who made the opening speech of the program, emphasized the necessity of Leadership and Management Training within the scope of quality studies for our university managers and administrators. Rector Karakaya said “It is a must to have a good education for a good administration,”, and continued his speech as follows: “A leader is a person who has a problem. A leader is the one who thinks about tomorrow and the future of his institution”. Rector Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who stated that humans were very important beings, explained that raising human beings was also a very important issue in that sense.

Rector Unal: “If an individual has traits such as problem-solving and being open to criticism, that individual also has the ability to be a leader and manager”

After the speech of the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal came forward and made a presentation on Leadership and Management. In his presentation, Rector Ünal mentioned about the connection between culture and the concepts of leadership and management and explained that every individual with a corporate culture could be a leader and manager. Explaining that man was actually a manager, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal said, "Man is a manager as a father, a mother, a child, and an individual." Rector Ünal, who said that the existence of a sense of belonging together with the corporate culture in the individual was an important condition in the development of leadership and managerial qualities, continued his speech as follows: "If the individual is closed to criticism, it is very difficult to be a leader and manager.” At the end of the training, the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, who also gave some advice to the participants, added that reading a biography was very important and that it would add a lot to the individual in terms of leadership and management.

After the presentation, Rector Unal answered the questions of the participants. At the end of the training, the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya presented a gift to the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal in memory of the day. The program ended after the collective commemorative photo was taken.
