Senior Counsellor of the Presidency Prof. Dr. İbrahim Saraçoğlu, who has an important place in the world literature with its cures revealing the protective and therapeutic complementary effects of plants, gave a lecture on "Anatolian Medicine in the Eyes of the Public" at the 2nd International Ahi Evran Medicine and Health Sciences Congress held at KAEU on 19 November 2022. At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Saraçoğlu visited the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya in his office and exchanged ideas.


Rector Karakaya: “We are Concerned to Establish the Methods Of Evidence-Based Traditional Medicine”

Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya made the opening speech at the conference held after the office visit. Karakaya said they applied cupping, ozone, acupuncture, phytotherapy, hydrotherapy methods at the 150-bed Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital. Rector Karakaya said, “Hydrotherapy is applied using geothermal water in our hospital. All these treatments are carried out within the framework of our regional development and specialization projects. At this point, CoHE and Presidential Strategy Institutions gave full support to these projects. Today, the master of traditional medicine, Mr. İbrahim will share his knowledge here.” In his speech, Rector Karakaya stated that their main concern was to shed ligth to traditional medicine, and noted that they were on the process of establishing the methods of evidence-based traditional medicine. After Karakaya's speech, Hande Karagedik made a presentation titled "Development of Herbal Support Product from Pinus Pine Plant" and Cihat Öztürk made a presentation called "Noah's Ark and the Preservation of Traditional Knowledge Project".


Saraçoğlu: "The Death of a Villager is the Death of a Nature Library"

After the presentations, Senior Counsellor of the Presidency Prof. Dr. İbrahim Saraçoğlu came to the podium. Noting that he death of a villager was the death of a nature library, Saraçoğlu noted that on the other hand, over a thousand seeds were collected in Anatolia within the scope of ancestor seed studies. Stating that the collected seeds were multiplied and thus offered to the public, Saraçoğlu said, "Today, there is a problem in food safety. There is a decrease in biological diversity as a result of climate change, there is a decrease in genetic resources. That's why, the seeds of the ancestors must be preserved and reproduced. You cannot get anywhere with hybrid seeds. If you don't have ancestral seeds, you cannot develop a new variety in any way. Local seeds of Anatolia are very valuable seeds.".


Saracoglu: "Turkiye's Red Wheat has a Vital Place in America"

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Saraçoğlu pointed out that science was never an absolute and definite truth, but that it was the truth of today, and said that each of the plants were a different source of healing, and they aimed to reveal it. Giving technical information about many herbs and treatment methods, Saraçoğlu stated that humans were supposed to adopt to nature not the other way. Saying that Turkiye's Red Wheat had a vital place in America, Saraçoğlu stated that the USA earned 300 billion dollars from that business. Saraçoğlu said, “Losing the seed is losing both the nutrition culture and the future. Protecting and multiplying seeds are what we need to do for our future generations. Our local seeds are our national resources. Protecting them is a national duty and is related to our national security,".
