Within the scope of the 2nd International Ahi Evran Medicine and Health Science Congress, university rectors, vice-rectors, and representatives of our province examined our R&D greenhouse areas and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital on-site. During the visits on 17 November 2022, Rector Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya showed their studies on-site and explained the completed projects, the impact of those projects on regional development, and their future projections.


Pilot Projects Supporting Development


Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University was selected as a pilot university in the field of agriculture and geothermal within the scope of the Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization Project in 2016, and that they had been working on both production technique, new methods and production diversity in the R&D greenhouse with seven-compartment and that they had been working on new production techniques and they had applied scientific developments there. Rector Karakaya noted that an R&D study was carried out to develop a domestic production growing environment in the greenhouse and that with that study, growing environments where production could be made at a more cost-effective 45% cost were prepared. In addition, Rector Karakaya shared the impact of the completed and planned activities on specialization, the actions that turned into employment, and the activities that would contribute to Turkiye's import problem.



We Planned Our 150-Bed Hospital as a Health Center of Excellence

After the R&D greenhouse visit, university rectors, vice-rectors, and representatives visited the 150-bed Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital. Rector Karakaya, who gave information about health projects there, introduced the center they designed as JEOKAREM (The Project of Geothermal Sourced Rehabilitation Center), GETAT (Traditional and Complementary Medicine), and SAUTER (Thermal Rehabilitation Center for Athlete Health Project) as Health Center of Excellence. Noting that the hospital was equipped with the latest technology, Karakaya stated that they wanted to contribute to the economy of Kırşehir and the region with the Clustering Project in Thermal Greenhouses, Pilot Health Projects, Roughage Production Project and Climate Mapping projects in addition to the Walnut-Oriented Development Project, and that they were aiming to use the logistics advantage of Kırşehir.
