The 2nd International Ahi Evran Medicine and Health Sciences Congress has started at our university, which attaches importance to academic studies and science. The 2nd International Ahi Evran Medicine and Health Sciences Congress organized by the KAEU Faculty of Medicine was held with the theme of "Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine Practices". The three-day congress aimed to contribute to the field of traditional medicine by holding 33 sessions, 12 courses, and a workshop. Kırşehir Governor Hüdayar Mete Buhara, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, President of Uzbekistan Avicenna Institute Nazımkhon Mahmudov, Rector of Health Sciences University Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erdöl, Rector of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydınlı, Rector of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı, Rector of Düzce University Prof. Dr. Nedim Sözbir, Rector of Malatya Turgut Özal University Prof. Dr. Recep Bentli, President of Turkish Health Care Quality and Accreditation Institute Prof. Dr. Figen Çizmeci Şenel, Head of the World Health Organization Turkiye Desk Prof. Dr. Toker Ergüder, rectors and vice-rectors of many universities, academic and administrative staff, and students attended to the congress.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Karahocagil: "We will Discuss the Relationship between Ahi Evran, Ahi-Order and Medicine with the Approach of Medicine from Avicenna to the Present in the Congress"

The opening speech of the II. IAMHC 2022 Congress was made by Congress Coordinator Chairman Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil. Expressing that they were honored and proud to hold the 2nd International Ahi Evran Medicine and Health Sciences Congress, Karahocagil reminded that one of the pilot projects of our university was the Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) Project. Stating that applications such as cups, ozone, acupuncture, hydrotherapy and phytotherapy had been licensed and started to serve in the physical therapy hospital with 150 beds, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Karahocagil said that they aimed to improve the capacity of the project locally and promote it at the national level. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil wished the congress to be successful by saying that the relationship between Ahi Evran, Ahi-Order and Medicine would be discussed with the understanding of medicine coming from Avicenna to the present day in the congress, which would be attended by nearly 200 scientists.

Vice-President of Health Institutes of Turkiye Şenel: “It is Important to Base Traditional and Complementary Medicine Studies upon a Scientific Foundation

After the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Vice President of Turkish Health Institutes Prof. Dr. Figen Çizmeci Şenel made a speech. Şenel drew attention to the importance of basing traditional and complementary medicine studies upon a scientific foundation. Emphasizing that evidence-based practices would increase thanks to such congresses, Şenel concluded her speech that the understanding of integrative medicine had become widespread in the world by emphasizing the importance of creating a strategy in this sense.


Rector of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Aydınlı: "Traditional Medicine Should Be Added to the Curriculum of Medicine Faculties"

After the speech of Vice-President of Turkish Health Institutes Prof. Dr. Figen Çizmeci Şenel, Rector of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydınlı came to the podium. Aydınlı, in his speech in which he explained that it was necessary to follow the path of truth, in order to go forward in many areas. Reminding that the point of view of the countries on those issues were important, Aydınlı noted that Turkey was currently giving full support to that field. Finally, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydınlı pointed out that it was essential to include that field in the curriculum of medicine faculties, and stated that saying contradictory things in science would contribute to the field and provide specialization.


Head of the Turkiye Desk of the World Health Organization Ergüder: “The World has Began to Appreciate the Importance of the Field”

After the speech of the Rector of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydınlı, World Health Organization Turkiye Desk Head Prof. Dr. Toker Ergüder made a speech and said: “In 2014, WHO started these studies. In the briefing sent to all countries, it wanted traditional medicine to be integrated into primary health care. In 2019, 179 countries started the studies and began to appreciate its importance. Turkiye is an exemplary country in the field and it shares its experiences abroad as well. It is also a source of pride for such a congress to be held in Kırşehir.".

President of Uzbekistan Avicenna Institute Mahmudov: “I am Honored and Proud to be Here”

After the speech of Head of the Turkey Desk of the World Health Organization Prof. Dr. Toker Ergüder, President of the Avicenna Institute of Uzbekistan Nazımkhon Mahmudov gave a speech. Mahmudov said, “Uzbekistan and Turkey are two sister countries. We share the same roots. I am honored and proud to be here. I would like to thank dear governor and rector for leading such a congress. We would like to see you among us at the congress to be held in Bukhara next year.” President of Uzbekistan Avicenna Institute Nazımkhon Mahmudov later thanked and gave plaques to Kırşehir Governor Hüdayar Mete Buhara and Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya.


Rector Karakaya: "We Apply Cupping, Ozone, Acupuncture, Hydrotherapy, and Phytotherapy in Our Hospital"

After the speech of President of Uzbekistan Avicenna Institute Nazımkhon Mahmudov, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya came to the podium. Karakaya talked about the pilot university projects, which started in 2016 and said that one of them was GETAT. In summary, Karakaya said: “We can reveal the traditional, complementary and integrative medicine practices of Anatolian Medicine with its ancient knowledge. Because under the steppe, there is a treasure. What's that? Healthy healing geothermal water. Today, our task is to carry out projects that will process this water with scientific knowledge and put it at the service of humanity. We started to apply cupping, ozone, acupuncture, phytotherapy, hydrotherapy with thşs aim. We have about 18 certified experts. We believe and trust the Anatolian medical tradition. Moreover, we will take this field further with scientific knowledge.”

Rector Karakaya: “We Want to Revive the Area Tested by 1000 Years of Experience with the Endemics of Kırşehir with a New Perspective”

Rector Karakaya stated that as Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, they were working with all their strength to develop evidence-based, effective and reliable traditional and complementary medicine practices and to integrate them with contemporary medicine by encouraging scientific research, and said that the area was tested by the 1000-year experience of Kırşehir's endemics, with a new perspective. He said they wanted to revive it. At the end of his speech, he stated that they were very happy to organize the international GETAT congress in Kırşehir with the motto of from İbn-i Sina to Ahi Evran-Healing from Nature and said that he believed that the congress would contribute to the history of our city and the promotion of its cultural and developing scientific aspects.



Governor of Buhara: "We Shouldn't Let those who Devalue this Area, and those who Abuse it"

The last speech of the opening of the congress was made by the Governor of Kırşehir Hüdayar Mete Buhara. Buhara stated that they shared a common civilization with the Central Asian geography. Buhara said, “No matter the silk road, wars or migrations, we are always interacting with that geography. We came to Anatolia from Central Asia. I hope that these studies will give strength to new developments and new horizons. There will be those who devalue this area, we should not allow it. We should put the field on a scientific basis and not allow them to abuse it.".


The opening program of the 2nd International Ahi Evran Medicine and Health Sciences Congress ended after the opening speeches. The participants attended to the “GETAT Workshop” that started in the Rectorate Senate Hall. The three-day congress continued with sessions in various halls.
