Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, which was selected as a pilot university in 2016 within the scope of the Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization Program, continues to promote the pilot university projects that allow the development of its region, both nationally and internationally. Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya introduced the pilot projects of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University to Kırşehir Branch President of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) Ömer Ali Öz and his management. Rector Karakaya, who met with MUSIAD Management in the Senate Hall on November 14, 2022, said that our university contributed to the development of both the people of Kırşehir and the city by revealing the values of its region with its pilot university projects.
Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University valued that the projects they produced for the development of our city would be realized with investments thanks to business people, and stated that they were happy to be in cooperation with MUSIAD. Rector Karakaya, who stated that they were selected as a pilot university in the field of Agriculture and Geothermal by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) in 2016, and that they developed projects that would ensure the development of Kırşehir and the region, said, “We are responsible for producing information, and investor companies will transform the information we produce into profit, which will ensure the development of both the region and our city. ” Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, explaining that they had produced projects suitable for the potential of the region, explained the Clustering Project in Thermal Greenhouses and the Walnut Focused Development and Growth Project to MÜSİAD members. Noting that the most important energy source of Kırşehir was geothermal and that they combined this source with agriculture and used it in greenhouse cultivation, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that thanks to geothermal, the region had a very favorable structure for greenhouse cultivation.
Referring to another important potential of Kırşehir, the Walnut-Focused Development and Growth Project after the Clustering Project in Thermal Greenhouses, Rector Karakaya emphasized that it was necessary to increase the production since there was a large amount of walnut cultivation in Kırşehir. Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who said that our university had made an important progress in walnut cultivation with soil analysis using the Geographical Information System, added that by using the Geographical Information System mapping method, it would be possible to determine the walnut variety should be grown with more yield.
Rector of KAEU Prof Dr Vatan Karakaya also explained other pilot projects of our university, namely JEOKAREM (The Project of Geothermal Sourced Rehabilitation Center), GETAT (Traditional and Complementary Medicine), and SAUTER (Thermal Rehabilitation Center for Athlete Health Project) and Roughage Production Projects. He noted that university projects would develop with the help of investors and would make significant contributions to the economy of both the province, the region, and the country.
After the speech of Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Kırşehir Branch President of MUSIAD Ömer Ali Öz took the floor and stated that the projects implemented by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University were very signifant. Expressing that they would be pleased to be in bilateral cooperation with Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, which had successful projects and studies, President Öz thanked everyone who contributed to the preparation and implementation of projects that would ensure the development of our province and region.
After the speech of the Kırşehir Branch President of MUSIAD Ömer Ali Öz, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya presented the “Walnut Focused Development and Development Project”. Then, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Günek from the Department of Geography of Faculty Arts and Sciences presented the study "Geographical Information Systems Study for Determining Walnut Growing Areas in Kırşehir and Its Results", while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Başak from the Faculty of Agriculture presented the "Clustering Project in Thermal Greenhouses".
After the meeting held in the Senate Hall, Kırşehir Branch President of MUSIAD Ömer Ali Öz gave a gift to Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya.
