Our Priority is to Produce Solutions for Import Issues

Karakaya started the interview by stating that the projects had national value and added, ‘’Presidential Budget Strategy Institution and CoHE are the projects owners. As the university, our duty is to turn these projects into employment via scientific knowledge. We implement the production techniques, new methods, and new scientific developments in this greenhouse with seven compartments." Karakaya, who continued his speech by stating that their priority was to produce domestic and national solutions regarding the import issues indicated that they carried out an R&D study for developing the environment for domestic production in the R&D Greenhouse, and with that study, they were at the process of preparing an environment in which production would cost 45% less.

We are Aiming at Creating New Sectors and Employment and Attracting Investors
Karakaya emphasized that according to feasibility studies, the biggest deficiency of agriculture was that thermal water was very promising but was not at the point it deserved. He stated "Thermal water is a decisive source in health and agriculture. We use the water both in thermal health tourism and greenhouses. Here, we are producing knowledge and we know that we manage to do those at one-fourth of the cost of the places that have the same geothermal energy. Our main aim is to use our logistic advantage and contribute to creating new sectors and employment and attracting investors."

The Farmer Will Win Thanks to Our Project to Prevent Inefficiency in Walnuts

In the last part of his speech, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya continued by explaining that walnuts were the reality of the region and pointed out that Kırşehir had a walnut brand and walnut production custom. Rector Karakaya, who stated that due to unconscious garden setup, walnuts did not grow even though there were walnut trees, said: “At that point, we looked for what we could do and we prepared a climate map of Kırşehir with the geographical information system. The Automation Information Center which we developed gives the answer to the question of 'which walnut variety grows well in which region'. In this way, the efficiency of a product that we are importing will increase and the farmer will win,".
