Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who carried out important projects for the development and growth of the region, was a guest on CNN Türk. Rector Karakaya, who participated in the News Bulletin on CNN Türk on November 9, 2022, answered the questions of Cem Seymen and talked about the pilot projects of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University.

 

Rector Karakaya: "We Aim to Make Kırşehir Number One in Health Tourism in the World with our Projects in the Field of Health"

Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya said that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University was one of the 5 pilot universities selected by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) within the scope of the Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization Program in 2016 and that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University had 6 projects under the title of "Agriculture and Geothermal". Rector Karakaya, who stated that geothermal, one of the most important energy sources of Kırşehir, was used in projects in the field of agriculture and health, noted that the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation (PTR) Hospital, which was one of the most important projects brought to our city in the field of health, had been serving within the scope of the Geothermal Rehabilitation Center (JEOKAREM) Project. Rector Karakaya stated that many inpatients, outpatients, and patients treated with sessions were served at the 150-bed PTR Hospital. Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya also emphasized that they had implemented the Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT) Project and the Research, Application, and Thermal Rehabilitation Center for Athlete Health (SAUTER) Project as well as the JEOKAREM Project, and added, “With our projects, we will ultimately make Kırşehir number one in health tourism in the world with our projects in the field of health.”


Rector Karakaya: “We Want the Aromatic Herbs of our Region to Turn Into Medicines In Pharmacies”

Rector Karakaya, who explained that ozone, acupuncture, cupping, leech and hydrotherapy, and phytotherapy methods were applied to the patients with the GETAT Project by physicians and academicians, continued his speech as follows: “First of all, we conduct scientific studies on the treatment methods to be applied to our patients. Our region has a very rich variety of endemic plants to be used in phytotherapy. Studies are carried out at our university on the growth and production of these species. One of the goals of our university in phytotherapy is to turn these endemic species into drugs in the pharmacy.”

Rector Karakaya: “We Attracted Many Investors to Our Region with Our Clustering Project in Thermal Greenhouses”

Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya also referred to the Clustering Project in Thermal Greenhouses, adding that their work on the development of greenhouse cultivation in our province continued and they pioneered investor companies. Rector Karakaya, who said that investor companies had gained efficiency in the greenhouses they established in our region since 2017, emphasized that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University also had an R&D Greenhouse, in which scientific studies were carried out.


Rector Karakaya: “We will Decide on the Most Yielding Walnut Variety for the Region via the Automation System We Developed”

Explaining the importance of universities producing projects that enabled the development of the province and the region with their scientific studies, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya talked about the Walnut Focused Development and Growth Project, which was one of the most important projects that would ensure the development of the region. He said that with the Walnut Focused Development and Growth Project, planting would be done with the mapping method using the Geographical Information System in order to increase the region's suitability for walnut cultivation. Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya said "We learned about 'which walnut variety yielded in which region' by mapping the climate in 12 regions with the mapping method," and he explained that with the automation system developed by our university, citizens of Kırşehir could easily decide on the walnut variety they would get more yield in their region.


Rector Karakaya: “Within the Scope of the Forage Production Project, We Planted in 12 Different Regions, on an Area of 7,500 Decares, with 60 Farmers”

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya also mentioned the Roughage Production Project, carried out in the field of agriculture, and stated that the region was one of the most developed regions in animal husbandry, adding that the Roughage Production Project was significant in that sense. Rector Karakaya, who stated that it was a must for the farmers to head towards yielding plants, said, “We planted in 12 different regions, on an area of ​​7 thousand 500 decares with our 60 farmers.”
