Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, which contributes to the development and growth of Kırşehir with its pilot university projects, continues the Walnut-Focused Development and Growth Project, which is one of the pilot university projects. Kaman Mayor Necati Çolak and City Council Member Arif Göçmen visited the Vice-Rector of KAEU and Pilot Agriculture and Chairman of Executive Board of Geothermal Coordinationship Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt to exchange ideas about the Walnut-Focused Development and Development Project. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya accompanied the visit, which took place at the office of the Vice-Rector on October 31, 2022.

Kaman Mayor Necati Çolak, who said that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University contributed to Kırşehir significantly with its pilot university projects, noted that they would be happy to work in cooperation with KAEU, especially on the walnut project. Stating that walnuts were crucial for Kırşehir and Kaman, Çolak said that R&D and training to be provided by KAEU were essential for increasing production, growing walnut seedlings, and strengthening the walnut sector in the region.

Emphasizing that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University had reached an important stage in the pilot university projects initiated in 2016, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt stated that they aimed to increase the value of walnut produced in the region and ensure the sustainability of production with the Walnut-Focused Development and Growth Project. Explaining that one of their goals was to increase the social welfare level of the region by contributing to the provincial and regional economy by making walnut production a part of the urban culture, Kurt noted that as Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, they would continue to work on walnut seedling cultivation within the scope of the Walnut-Focused Development and Growth Project. Expressing his satisfaction with the visit at the end of his speech, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt thanked Kaman Mayor Necati Çolak and City Council Member Arif Göçmen.

At the end of the visit, Kaman Mayor Necati Çolak and City Council Member Arif Göçmen gave gifts to Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and Dean of Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya.
