The Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who had great efforts in the development of our province and region, made agreements to implement the hydrogen energy and heating system planned to be used in geothermal greenhouses. In the previous months, Rector Karakaya had a preliminary meeting with the Konya Plain Project (KOP) Regional Development Administration and investor companies about the "The SPS Supported Project of Greenhouse Heating System with Hydrogen Energy" and he signed the protocol of "KOP - HİDROSERA (The Pilot Implementation Project of Hydro-GreenHouse SPS with Hydrogen Heating System)with the Chairman of the KOP Regional Development Administration Murat Karakoyunlu. Within the scope of the protocol realized on October 24, 2022, the "KOP-HIDROSERA" project, which is included in the "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program" in 2022, a pilot implementation in greenhouses was aimed with the aim of investigating the use of hydrogen combi boiler systems, which are produced and exported with domestic and national resources, with the support of GES. Within the scope of that aim, the "KOP - HİDROSERA" project aims to carry out the pilot implementations in which systems using GPP are converted to hybrid (HID-SPS GPP) systems for the sake of using and protecting resources efficiently and thus transferring the geothermal resources in our region to future generations.
Within the scope of the project, 3 of the 7 GPP-Supported Greenhouses, with a floor area of 200 m² and a height of -7.5 m, which were established with the support of the Implementing Organization, will be evaluated and equipped with HID, HID+SPS, and GPP Heating systems, respectively. A detailed evaluation of the SPS-HIDROSERA systems, which will be implemented as a pilot, will be provided by integrating a new generation radiator system into the greenhouses, classical or radiofrequency integrated to the height of the plant, or image processing-based thermal sensors which demonstrate the heat distribution.

Making a statement after the protocol was signed with the KOP Regional Development Administration, the Rector of Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that they were happy to sign the protocol of the "KOP - HIDROSERA" project, which would implement the heating system by using Hydrogen Energy in the R&D Greenhouse of our university. Rector Karakaya, who stated that they always carried out their work with the motto of "Serve God Through Serving People", emphasized that new trends and alternatives in the field of energy were significant for our country. Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that they would implement the "KOP - HİDROSERA" project in KAEU R&D Greenhouse and that the findings would set an example for its implementation in many greenhouses of our country, and wished the signed protocol to be beneficial for our university, province, and country.
