The 9th National KOP Regional Development Symposium of the Union of KOP Region Universities (UNIKOP), which includes Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, started at Konya Technical University. The Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya and the rectors of 12 UNIKOP member universities, scientists, academic and administrative personnel, sector representatives, and guests attended the symposium, which was held in the Exhibition and Foyer Area of Gelişim Campus, Konya Technical University on 24 – 26 October 2022.

This year, the themes of the National KOP Regional Development Symposium, which is held regularly every year and where certain issues are discussed, are “Agriculture, Alternative and Renewable Energy Resources, Global Security, Information Technologies and Cyber Security, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Threat (CBRN), Tourism and Socio-Economic Regional Development”. The scientists participating in the symposium came together to express their views on the symposium topics that would meet the needs of our country.

The Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who participated in the 9th National KOP Regional Development Symposium, stated that the themes of the symposium were essential issues for the development and progress of our country and region, adding that universities were expected to express their opinions on those issues and to shed light on the future of our country by conducting research. Rector Karakaya, who stated that, with the symposium, he was delighted with the fact that the step was taken to meet an essential need of our country, said that as a member of UNIKOP, they regularly hold the National KOP Regional Development Symposium every year and wished the symposium to be fruitful.
