"The Raising Quality Persons is Possible through Quality Assurance in Education and Management"

THEQC Board Member Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya made a presentation titled "Assessment and Evaluation Processes in Higher Education" in the program. In his presentation, Rector Karakaya noted that education and training activities had three vital stages, that were Curriculum design, Implementation processes designed to implement the Curriculum (classroom management), and Curriculum-related assessment and evaluation activities. Explaining the new generation approaches in measurement and evaluation, Karakaya stated that a paradigm shift had been experienced at that point and that these approaches, which were diversified with the possibilities of technology, were encountered with distance education and Web 2.0-based learning. Rector Karakaya also mentioned the difference between the new generation assessment approaches and the traditional approach and noted that in new approaches, the learning timing and access were flexible, progress was individualized, feedback was instant, and item types were enriched.

Finally, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who underlined that Turkish universities were working for the sustainability of Turkish universities with the help of THEQC, said, “Institutional accreditation in Turkey is now an essential standard for universities. For that reason, the way to train quality people is through quality assurance in education and management.”
