The 2021-2022 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine of KAEU, aims to train well-equipped doctors with scientific research and development competence who keep their professional ethical values alive thanks to its innovative educational approach and research opportunities, took place and produced its first graduates. Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Rector of Çankırı Karatekin University Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökbel and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Secretary-General Mehmet Zeki Küçük, Provincial Health Director Dr. Ertan Değirmencioğlu and Head Doctor of Kırşehir Training and Research Hospital Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, academic and administrative staff, students, and parents attended the ceremony that took place on July 29, 2022, at the KAEU Milli İrade Hall on July 15.

We Promised You Six Years Ago, and now, We Entrust Ahi Doctors to you

Before the opening speeches, a short promotional video of the Faculty of Medicine was demonstrated. Later, the opening speech of the graduation ceremony was made by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil. Karahocagil started his speech by expressing that as the Faculty of Medicine, they were honored and proud to produce their first graduates. Reminding that they had a promise to the parents at the white coat ceremony in the Science and Literature Hall six years ago, Dean Karahocagil said, "Six years have passed since then. We said that we would deliver our young people to you as well-trained physicians. Today, in this hall, we fulfill this promise and entrust our Ahi Physicians to you.” Karahocagil stated that as an institution, they set out with the aim of educating physicians who had an understanding of professional ethics and quality inspired by the cultural heritage of the Ahi-Order in their mission.



Your Goal should not be to Graduate, but to Do your Job in the Best Way and Reach the Top in the Profession.

Stating that they were very afraid of young medical students getting sick due to the pandemic, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil said, “But we were more afraid that we would not be able to train good doctors. We have made every effort to ensure that you receive a good education by mobilizing all the possibilities.” Addressing the graduating students, Karahocagil stated that from now on, they would bear the authority, responsibility, and safety of handing over human life to their hands. Underlining that graduating from the Faculty of Medicine could not be the final goal, Dean Karahocagil stated that the goal should be to do the profession in the best way and to reach the top in the profession.

You Are Ready to Practice Your Profession All Over the Country

In the last part of his speech, Karahocagil, who asked the young people to make an effort to save humanity, said: "You cannot do all this without a journey of knowledge. Knowing yourself is wisdom, but knowing what you do not know is existing. We want you to be good doctors who deal not only with the material but also with spiritual illnesses. This is our problem, our cause. Today we bid you farewell, tomorrow you will start to practice your profession all over the country. I wish you a lifetime of success in your professional life. I'm Very Happy to Have Worked at the KAEU Faculty of Medicine

After the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, the Rector of Çankırı Karatekin University, and also a former faculty member of the KAUE Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi gave a speech. Noting that he was extremely happy to have worked at the KAEU Faculty of Medicine, Rector Çiftçi wished success to the young people who would take charge in every corner of the country. Saying that firsts were never forgotten, Çiftçi noted that he was there today to say goodbye. Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi congratulated the graduate students and wished them success in their future lives.

The Adventure of Medical School Is Still Fresh in Our Mind

The Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya made a speech at the 2021-2022 Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine. Rector Karakaya, who started his speech by noting that the adventure of the Faculty of Medicine was still very fresh in their minds, stated that every stage of the process was an asset for them. Emphasizing that the Faculty of Medicine was the 'Kızılelma' (a strong desire) of the city, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya said that they were asked questions about whether there would be a faculty of medicine and how to establish the Faculty of Medicine in our university. He added that they had been thinking a lot about the issue, and they went to Ankara many times to discuss the issue. He said that they had the rightful pride of establishing such a faculty in our city and the university, with its academic staff, students, and building, by challenging the conditions and mobilizing all the opportunities. Expressing that the Faculty of Medicine continued the educational activities in the new morphology building that would contribute to the improvement of the education conditions, Karakaya emphasized that there were all kinds of opportunities from the cadaver training to the laboratory in that modern, fully equipped building.

Service to Humanity is the Most Distinctive Feature of Anatolian and Ahi Spirit

Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who stated that they should not ignore touching the heart while addressing human biology with their professional skills, said that human beings consisted of soul and body, so they should not neglect the soul, which was the truth of human beings, and he underlined that sometimes a smile could be more beneficial than a needle and that the most distinctive feature of the spirit of Anatolia and Ahi was the willingness to service to humanity. Karakaya, who said that they had lost the inner and lived a civilization vision focused only on the outer side, said that that did not fit the Anatolian traditions and added, "When we see people, we accept them as equal, souls are different from each other."


Man is a Substance, and What Torture him is the Illness

Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya continued his words by referring to Ibn Sina's definition of disease in the last part of his speech. He said “According to Ibn Sina, there is no such thing as illness at the core, there is a substance, human. What troubles him or tortures him is the illness. Man is a substance with its aliveness, he sought ways to keep the illness away from this substance. This fiction of his has been instrumental in the developments in medicine.” Karakaya said that they planned to build the Faculty of Health Sciences right next to the Faculty of Medicine in their investment plans, and said that they believed that that would enrich the health and medical environment. Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya thanked the faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine, students, and parents and said, “I congratulate you again with hope for the future you will establish. May your paths and luck be open. He concluded by saying, “God bless you.”


After the speeches, the top student of the faculty Huriye Arıkan gave a graduation speech and put a plate on the graduation log as a symbol of ranking highest. Then, diplomas and gifts were presented to the top students; by Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya to Huriye Arıkan who came first in the faculty, by Prof. Dr. Harun Çiftçi to Sena Şahin who took second place, by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökbel to Yasemin Atasoy who shared second place and by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt to the third Yasemin Solmaz. The Intern of the Year award was presented to Anıl Sayın by Secretary General Mehmet Zeki Küçük. Later, the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine were presented their diplomas one by one by the faculty members. Prof. Dr. Figen Tuncay administered the graduation oath to the students. The ceremony ended with the taking of souvenir photos and tossing the graduation caps.
