“International Sezai Karakoç Symposium” was held in Diyarbakır as part of the Conquest Week. The "International Sezai Karakoç Symposium", organized jointly by Diyarbakır Governor's Office, Metropolitan Municipality, Cihannüma Solidarity and Cooperation Association, Dicle University, and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, was held on May 26-28. Poet, writer, and intellectual Sezai Karakoç was commemorated with his different characteristics, with the participation of Governor of Diyarbakır Ali İhsan Su, AK Party Deputy Chairman Numan Kurtulmuş, Diyarbakır MPs Mehdi Eker and Ebubekir Bal, as well as the Rector of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, and many university rectors.
”Karakoç Left a Mark on the Recent History of Turkiye”
AK Party Deputy Chairman Numan Kurtulmuş made the opening speech at the symposium, which started at Dicle University, 15 July Culture and Congress Center. Kurtulmuş said that Sezai Karakoç left his mark on Turkey's recent history as a monumental personality with his ideas, poems, political lines, and personality. Stressing the importance of commemorating and trying to understand Karakoç in his hometown in Diyarbakır, Kurtulmuş wished that the symposium would be held for many years, further increasing its internationalism.

Governor of Diyarbakır Ali İhsan Su also made a speech and said that they were happy to host the symposium. Stating that Diyarbakır was a very beautiful and special city, Su said: "It is a very special city with a history of 12 thousand years and has brought many important personalities in it. This geography is truly fruitful and fertile land. Here is one of the important personalities who grew up in this geography. and Master Sezai Karakoç. Sezai Karakoç, our poet of resurrection, a voyager of rights and truth, a true believer who calls all humanity to goodness, invites them to goodness, and tries to create beauty."
“Karakoç, One of the Important Building Blocks of our Idea World, Should Be Well-Explained to Young People”
Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who chaired the session at the "International Sezai Karakoç Symposium" and expressed his ideas about the symposium, stated: "I believe that it is important to introduce Sezai Karakoç's ideas to the young people. He is one of the important building blocks of Turkish Literature, a master poet, and one of the important architects of our world of ideas. Masters like Karakoç, who push people to think, should always be remembered and their ideas should be kept alive because their ideas are a counterpoint, a shaking point against the elements that disrupt the social order. The spirit of these ideas that offer solutions should be understood well.".
In the symposium attended by sixty universities; Poet, Writer, and Intellectual Sezai Karakoç was commemorated for his different characteristics. During the three-day symposium, approximately 160 experts, including researchers, writers, and academics, held forty simultaneous sessions in seven different halls. In the panels, presentations were made on the biography of Karakoç and Diyarbakır, civilization, politics, religion, art, literature, education, economics, history and the idea of poetry, and the "Resurrection Concept" in the works of Sezai Karakoç. Proceedings of the symposium held in memory of Sezai Karakoç will later be published as a book.
