“UNESCO Music City Kırşehir International Music Conference”, which was jointly organized with the cooperation of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and Kırşehir Municipality, was held at KAEU Congress and Culture Center and Neşet Ertaş Ertaş Cultural Center. Many guests interested in music and musical culture accompanied the conference held in Kırşehir, the first and only city from Turkey to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music.
We will Share the Musical Heritage of Kırşehir with the World
Mayor of Kırşehir Selahattin Ekicioğlu said at the opening of the conference held at the Neşet Ertaş Culture and Art Center that they organized the program in cooperation with Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. Emphasizing that the city was the first and only city to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music, Ekicioğlu continued: "As Kırşehir Municipality, which has implemented a series of programs, concerts, culture, and art events within this scope, we are now hosting the UNESCO Music City Kırşehir International Music Conference. We have the opportunity to share this heritage of Kırşehir, which is included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music, with the achievements of the cultural heritage that the Anatolian Abdal and bozlak tradition brought to our city, with all the folks of the world."
Participants from various countries such as Japan, England, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan took part in the event. Subjects such as the tradition of "Abdalism", the folk songs of Muharrem and Neşet Ertaş, the music culture of the Kırşehir region, the minstrel music in the villages, the minstrel tradition in Azerbaijan, the creative music city, and sustainable development, the examination of the works in the music textbooks within the framework of the values accepted by UNESCO were evaluated in the event.
UNESCO Music City Kırşehir International Music Conference, which lasted for two days, took place at Neşet Ertaş Ertaş Cultural Center on the first day and at our University Congress and Culture Center on the second day. While the symposium was held in nine sessions, fifty-five paper presentations were made in the symposium.
