President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar met with the KAEU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS) students. President of TRNC Ersin Tatar, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Dean of FEAS Prof. Dr. Nur Cetin, academic and administrative staff, and students attended the online panel titled "Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean in International Politics" held online on May 17, 2022.
Dean of FEAS Prof. Dr. Nur Çetin made the opening speech of the program and stated that the most important person whose knowledge, experience, experience, and perspective on Cyprus to be consulted was Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. She noted that they were pleased to host him in the program. Stating that the program was an important opportunity for the students to benefit from the knowledge and experience of the President of TRNC Ersin Tatar, Dr. Çetin wished the program to be fruitful and thanked the TRNC President Ersin Tatar for his participation.

After the speech of Dean of FEAS Prof. Dr. Nur Çetin, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya took the floor. In his speech, Rector Karakaya stated that he was happy that TRNC President Ersin Tatar shared his vast knowledge and experience on international relations, Northern Cyprus, and the Eastern Mediterranean with KAEU students and noted that it was important for the students to listen to the international relations and geopolitical importance of Cyprus. Emphasizing that he believed the program would be beneficial for the young people, Prof Dr. Vatan Karakaya continued his speech as follows: “As our youth are educated from the primary source, they will build their own policies and international perspectives. Your contribution to this construction is very valuable to us.” The Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya expressed that he was very happy that the President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar meet with the students, and wished the program to be fruitful.

After the opening speeches, the President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar shared his knowledge and experience about Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean in International Politics with the students. Ersin Tatar, who gave information about the history of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, said that Greece had conflicts with the Turkish Cypriots to unite Cyprus with them. Noting that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus believed in and cared about peace, brotherhood, and humanity, Tatar said that the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus was in cooperation with Greece and that they regarded Cyprus as the 13th island of Greece. Emphasizing that there were forces trying to separate the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from the Republic of Turkey, TRNC President Ersin Tatar continued his words as follows: “We will not compromise on any power or situation that will try to separate us from Turkey. We will continue to protect our national interests in the Eastern Mediterranean until the end and cooperate with the Republic of Turkey. Our aim is always in favor of peace, brotherhood, and humanity, in an equitable and just way.” Ersin Tatar, who gave advice to the young people in his speech, said that it was necessary to know the past very well, to know friends and enemies well, and plan the future accordingly.
