President of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, who visited KAEU for a conference in the previous days, gave information about the soilless agriculture in KAEU R&D greenhouse, which he was impressed by, in an interview with Milliyet newspaper.

President of TUBITAK Mandal: "In the Thermal Greenhouse of Kırşehir, More Yield Could Be Obtained from Antalya"

In his speech to Milliyet, TÜBİTAK President Hasan Mandal, who complimented the technology used in the soilless agriculture and geothermal R&D greenhouse established at KAEU, said: “Turkey is the 4th country in terms of geothermal capacity. In fact, there are minerals like thorium and boron that are not available in every country in the geothermal waters of Turkiye. Partial heating scopes are in use in Afyonkarahisar and İzmir. It is necessary to investigate the reforming potential of geothermal power. There is a geothermal greenhouse without any soil in Kırşehir. You can get more efficiency there than in Antalya. Greenhouse cultivation is carried out in winter and tomatoes are grown at an altitude of 1000 meters. Geothermal power is reusable and fed from the underground. You can get lithium from geothermal. This advantage could be used in places such as Niğde, Nevşehir, and Kırşehir.”

Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that they were honored to hear those words of Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, the President of TÜBİTAK, which aims at high advanced technology. He noted that the point they had reached in the R&D greenhouse was one of the qualifications of the pilot university and that they had seen KAEU's impact on the economy of Kırşehir in the field.
