Âşık Veysel was commemorated by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Neşet Ertaş Faculty of Fine Arts on his 49th death anniversary. In the commemoration program held on March 21, 2022, at the Congress and Culture Center, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Bekki gave a speech on "Becoming/Reaching Veysel". After his speech, Neşet Ertaş Faculty of Fine Arts students and instructors gave a concert of songs of Âşık Veysel.

Prof. Dr. Selahattin Bekki, Head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, who came forward to give a speech, noted that they prepared a commemoration program in which they would commemorate Aşık Veysel with his poems and folk songs. Bekki said that to become Veysel, one must come from the land where Pir Sultans, Ruhsatis, Serdaris, and Agahis were fed with love, and added that Veysel is a world-class artist of love. Bekki commented on the life of Veysel with quatrains from his different poems and explained the intricacies of becoming Veysel, together with creating/understanding a base for literary and real life.

Dr. Bekki stated that the legacy left by Âşık Veysel was significant for the Turkish intellectual world. He informed that many artists from Turkey and abroad had performed the works of Veysel. Prof. Dr. Selahattin Bekki, who stated that the poems and life of Âşık Veysel were the inspiration for many TV series and movies, concluded his speech by emphasizing that Âşık Veysel was one of the rare personalities whose value was known before and after his death.

After the speech of Prof. Dr. Selahattin Bekki 'Becoming/Reaching Veysel', the commemoration program ended with the Aşık Veysel Folk Songs performed by Neşet Ertaş Faculty of Fine Arts students and instructors.
