The 176th anniversary of the beginning of agricultural education in Turkiye was celebrated with the program organized by the Faculty of Agriculture of KAEU. The rector of KAEU, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Kırşehir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Duran Seçen, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya, Prof. Dr. Rüştü Hatipoğlu from Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture, President of Agricultural Activities Group Alperen Kutalmış, academic and administrative staff, and students attended to the online celebration program on January 11, 2022.

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya, who made the opening speech, noted that the transition to agricultural education in our country started in 1846 and that Agricultural Faculties provided a significant increase in the level of agricultural education and productivity. Kazankaya emphasized that the efforts of the Faculties of Agriculture to meet the demand for qualified labor in the field of food, agriculture, and animal husbandry are important, and said that they will continue to work for the development and progress of Turkish agriculture.

After the speech of Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya made a speech. In his speech, Rector Karakaya celebrated the 176th anniversary of the Beginning of Agricultural Education and said that agriculture has an important place in the economic and social field for every country. Noting that the importance of agricultural production has increased recently both in the world and in Turkiye, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya emphasized that agriculture is now carried out in a more modern way. Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, who stated that universities are effective in increasing and developing agricultural education, stated that Kırşehir Ahi Evran University contributed significantly to the development of our city by signing important projects in this sense.

After the speech of Rector of KAEU, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, the Director of Kırşehir Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Duran Seçen took the floor and wished that such annual events would continue increasingly. Noting that Agricultural Education, which started in 1846 in Turkiye, has progressed considerably today, Seçen said that agricultural production and productivity have increased thanks to new and modern technologies.

The program ended with the special lecture for 176th Anniversary of Prof. Dr. Rüştü Hatipoğlu from Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture on "Genetically Modified Plants in the World and in Turkiye".
